École secondaire Garneau

DESCRIPTION: École secondaire Garneau was built to reinforce the sense of community in Orleans and to meet the particular needs of the people. In addition to the usual input from the school board, a series of discussion meetings were held with students to gain their insights and responses to their school buildings.

A sloping metal-clad exterior wall system was chosen as a result of the stacking of larger spaces at the bottom and for an efficient overall volume. Contrasting rough (concrete and concrete masonry walls) and finished (carpeted floors) materials are the primary interior elements.
